As the cool temps roll in, our skin needs some TLC more than ever. Not only that, it’s easy to not feel pretty. Our skin is dry and flaky, lips are cracked, our sun-kissed tan is far gone, our hair loses hydration- the list goes on. With that being said, it is important to pamper yourself. I was really excited to partner with Idolize Brow & Beauty at Rea Farms!
For those of you who don’t know, Idolize Brow & Beauty provides high-quality, pampering beauty services at prices you can afford. Some of their services include threading, waxing, lashes and facials. For my collaboration, I received two services at one of their brand new locations in Charlotte.
Their new location is so pretty! I loved all the white with gold and the decorations. It looks so fancy! The staff is also really friendly, and they greet you the moment you walk in the door.
The first service I went in for was a facial. In all my 28 years of being on this earth, I had never had a facial before. I was so excited! I chose the Age Repair facial because I want young skin. I was hoping this would be a cool facial with lasers, or some sort of microderm, but it wasn’t haha. This was probably a good things since I was a beginner, but it is a good thing to note.
My facial began with an oil cleanser to clean off my skin. It was followed by a regular soap cleanser. I then had an exfoliator. My skin is really sensitive, so to keep the redness down we did an oatmeal mask. That was not really a step in the process though, haha. I had the extractions done on my nose (gross I know), but there really wasn’t anything. The final step was the serums that were massaged into my face. These oil/serums had the anti-aging properties. The massage felt really nice. The whole process was about an hour. It actually went 15 minutes over because I needed the oatmeal mask.
My skin looked so good after! It was shiny and had such a natural glow that lasted for the next two days. I was a little apprehensive that I would break out, because I know that can happen post facial. I was lucky, and did not experience that. The brand that they used on me was dermalogica, which you can actually purchase online through Ulta.
The second service I chose was lash extensions. I have had lash extensions in the past for about 4 months. I was going every 2-3 weeks to get them filled. Lash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. They get glued on and last about 4 weeks.
Previously, I alway had the Volume lashes. They look like fake lashes, or as if I have mascara on when I don’t. I love Volume because I like the dramatic look. For this services, they had me down for Classic. It is important I explain the difference. Classic is very natural, it provides a slightly fuller look to your natural lashes but doesn’t look as though your are wearing make-up.
I went in without any eye make-up on, as you can’t have it on for the application. The process for a full set took 2 hours. That is completely standard for a full set. A fill usually takes an hour to an hour and a half. The lashes look really good, but they weren’t that full look I am used to. I have to add mascara to the ends for volume. I have only had them for a few days, so I cannot give a review on how well they last, or if I really recommend them yet. They looked really good after the application, and that is all I can share so far.
I always get questions on lash extensions, so here are a few things you should know:
- They are an expensive habit
- You may have an allergy to the glue, and if you do (like me) some places have sensitive glue
- It does damage your real lashes, just like hair extensions damage your hair
- Not all lashes are created equal. Lashes are made with different materials. No matter where you choose to go, ask what they use.
